Journalist Karen Connolly has been working with Year 5 this week. On Monday, Mr. Jones unearthed two mysterious bones in the grounds of the chicken coop, and it was up to Year 5 to let the public know by doing some excellent reporting. Karen worked closely with the class and the children learnt how to write succinctly, their report has a word limit of only 150 words.
Throughout the week, the class planned their newspaper story brilliantly and learnt some great new adventurous vocabulary to sue in their writing. They made sure that every area of the story was covered and even held a press conference on Thursday this Chief Superintendant Iain Fletcher. They asked some fantastic questions and were able to include some great quotes in their story. They ended the week by becoming ITN news readers on Friday and showcased their brilliant public speaking skills by reading the stories out for everyone to hear. Year 5 have learnt a lot this week and have really enjoyed being Mossfield’s Finest Journalists for the week
